Gonio is a coastal village 12 km from Batumi. Food delivery platforms have not reached it yet. Greenland is the only cafe in the area that stays open through the winter, and its orders arrived as chat messages — mixed in with questions about opening hours, the delivery area and how to pay.

01 / Context
A message arrives with no structure. The address on one line, the items on another, the time somewhere in the middle, and the phone number has to be dug out of a profile. Somebody has to read all that, ask follow-ups, add it up, and remember the order exists at all.
During a shift that works while there are two orders. On the third they start slipping: the message scrolls away, the shift changes, and nobody knows whether it was accepted.
The job was not "build a website". The job was to turn a conversation into a process that has a state: accepted, cooking, ready, on its way.
The page that advertises the cafe and the page that takes the money are the same page.

The checkout request physically contains no price, no total and no delivery fee — only dish identifiers and quantities. The server re-reads every price from the database and recomputes the total. A tampered page cannot underpay, and a three-week-old cart cannot order at last month's prices.
Money is stored in whole tetri, so rounding drift is impossible by construction.
The delivery radius, minimum order and fee shown in the marketing copy are computed from the same zones the checkout enforces. The owner redraws a zone and the text on the site updates itself.
The promise on the storefront is always one the till can honour.
Latin brand fonts contain no Georgian glyphs. Georgian faces are layered into the font stack and the browser resolves each character individually: Georgian text gets its own face, Latin keeps the brand face, with no branching in code.
Even month names in the charts come from our own tables — Chrome doesn't ship Georgian date data everywhere.
The platform runs on Cloudflare's free tier under a hard CPU budget per request. It didn't fit at first and some requests failed. Fixed by serving cached pages without starting the app server, and by switching the password hashing to a less expensive algorithm.
No cut of an order, no monthly rent. On an aggregator the cafe would hand over a share of every sale; on a site builder it would pay every month for the right to use its own website. Here the infrastructure costs about nothing, and that money stays in the cafe.

A case study isn't a display of promises. Here is what deliberately stayed outside this stage.
Card payment on the site is not connected: cash on delivery. The payment layer is modelled but switched off.
QR ordering at the table: the guest types the table number by hand; the full QR flow is not live.
Courier integrations are built and tested but switched off — coverage of Gonio is unconfirmed.
There is no search or filtering in the menu: allergens are shown but can't be filtered on.
No promo codes, discounts or loyalty programme.
